Shift Register - A Shift Register Code Generator

Introduction

Open Shift Generator is a collection of software to produce efficient implementations of shift register based algorithms:

• Linear Feedback Shift Register in Galois and Fibonacci setup
• Scrambler synchronized and self-synchronized 
• Convolutional encoders
• Stream ciphers and pseudo-random generators
• LFSR-based hash function.

Common LFSR software implementations are rather slow since they under-exploit the datapath of the processor. We overcome this bottleneck by generating multi-step implementations. Another goal is to provide an overview of shift register in coding theory and cryptography.
